Our Story
Our Story
More Than A Game.
Where It Started
The First Thing I Noticed
I started playing pickleball after COVID, like a lot of people. What struck me wasn’t the game — it was the mood on the court. People weren’t there to compete. They were there to move again. Laugh again. Meet people again. To feel part of something after years of being apart.
You could feel it inside of ten minutes. Without anyone planning it, this sport had become a quiet answer to two problems most of us were carrying: we needed an easy, low-pressure way to get active again — and we needed real connection that didn’t happen through a screen.
Pickleball solved both at once. That’s when it clicked.
The Background
Two Worlds, One Answer
Retail taught me how products move.
Fitness taught me why people move.
South Florida showed me what happens when movement becomes community.
I grew up around product — wholesale, retail buyers, the whole quiet machinery of how things get made, shipped, and placed in front of people. Later I studied kinesiology at the University of Miami and became a certified trainer, and spent years watching what consistent movement does to a person. Physically first. Then everywhere else.
For a long time those felt like separate educations. Pickleball was the first place they pointed at the same thing.
“The paddle is the invitation.
The community is the point.”
The Place
A Coast That Plays Outside
South Florida makes the case every morning. Early sessions. Courts by the water. Coffee that turns into plans. Here, wellness was never a program you sign up for — it’s social, it’s outside, and it’s year-round.
Coastal Athletic didn’t invent that culture. It’s built from it.
Why We Exist
The First Expression
Coastal Athletic sits where product, movement, and community meet. Pickleball is our first expression of it — the easiest invitation we know how to extend.
The paddles are made to be worthy of the place — six colorways, each named for a corner of South Florida: Biscayne, Sunset Club, Flamingo Point, The Grove, Palm Club, Sunrise Key. We made them beautiful on purpose. Something you’re glad to carry, and glad to hand to a friend who’s never played.
But the paddle was never the point. It’s the reason to show up.
What We’re Building
A Home Base
A South Florida home base for people who are new to the game, new to active living, or just out of the habit — casual sessions with loaner paddles and no scorekeeping, sunset socials on waterfront courts, and a guide to the best places to play.
Show up solo. Leave with a crew.
Our Mission
Get people moving, connected, and outside — by the water, as often as possible.
A Note From The Founder
I built Coastal Athletic because the best hours of my week kept happening on a court, with people I hadn’t met a month earlier. If you’re new to the game, new to the area, or just out of the habit of moving — this was built with you in mind. Come play.
