Our Story
A product shouldn't end the relationship.
For most companies, checkout is the finish line. The box ships and the relationship ends there.
Coastal Athletic was built the other way around. What the paddle leads to is the point.
Why we started
Years spent behind the product.
For years I worked inside consumer-product companies — sourcing, manufacturing, wholesale, logistics, product development. The unglamorous work of getting something from a factory into someone's hands.
I learned how much care goes into that work, and how quickly it stops. A shipping confirmation, a review request, and the company moves on.
A well-made paddle can do more than arrive. It can start something. That's the idea Coastal Athletic is built around.
Why pickleball
Not because it was growing.
We didn't start with pickleball because the sport was trending. We started with it because of what it does to a morning.
Strangers become doubles partners. A rotation of games turns into coffee. Plans are made for next weekend before anyone leaves the court.
A paddle is a small thing to carry. On the mornings it matters, it's the reason the morning happened at all.
Why South Florida
A rhythm, not a place.
Coastal Athletic began in South Florida, but the brand isn't the postcard version of it. It's the way life is organized here — outside, early, year-round, and rarely alone.
- Early mornings.
- Training before work.
- Coffee afterwards.
- A Saturday that lasts until lunch.
- The game that turns into dinner.
That rhythm travels. A morning in New York, Austin, or London can look the same. The place shaped the brand; it doesn't define who it's for.
The paddles
Designed to play and to keep.
Every paddle is finished on both sides. Not because it's easier — it isn't — but because the paddle you carry to the court is worth looking at from either angle. Flip it in your hand between points and there's a second color, a second mood, the same frame.
Each collection is named for a place and a time of day: the bay before the causeway wakes up, Coconut Grove under the banyans, the last hour of light on Ocean Drive. The palette comes from the hour. The paddle carries a piece of it.
The result is a paddle that plays like a paddle you'd choose on performance alone, and looks like one you'd keep on the shelf between games.

What we believe
The product comes first.
The paddle has to be the reason you keep coming back to it. Everything else follows from there.
We measure ourselves in standing Saturday games, group texts that survive the winter, and mornings that wouldn't have happened without the paddle that started them.
A note from the founder
The first company I've built around my own life.
I'm Rohan. I've spent most of my career on the operational side of other people's companies — factories, freight, forecasts, product development calendars. Work the customer never sees.
The thought I kept returning to was simple: the interesting part of a product is what happens once it's in someone's hands.
Coastal Athletic is the first company I've built around the way I actually live. Early mornings, training before work, coffee afterwards, a paddle in the bag most days of the week.
That's what this is. Built carefully, without pretending it's more than it is.
A well-made paddle won't build a community on its own. The right one gives people a reason to show up for each other.
The paddle is the invitation.
The community is the point.
